And You Thought it was Over...

You've moved on.
You've learnt to bury the past;
You've regained your composure,
You've even forgotten how hurt you were before,
And could smile at the same face that cost you so much tears and heartache.

But as the conveyor belt of time propels you forward,
To face the debris as you've left off earlier,
You realized it has never gone away.
You remember why you felt that anguish you never knew you're capable of feeling;
In fact, you can still remember how that felt.

However, time does change one's perspective.
You realize it was you who allowed yourself to be hurt,
To be exposed to that vulnerability.
You found avenues to seek solace in, and to reassure yourself.
You wouldn't allow yourself to be hurt the same way ever again,
And you wonder why you were so foolish in the first place?
Condoning turns into detachment; vulnerability turns into bitterness and vengence.

Don't tell me it's my fault, neither is it yours.
At least I got to see your true colors.
I lost a stranger; but you've lost a friend.
