Tete-a-Tete

She knew she was never good at taking care of things;

Whatever came to her - cactus, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, guppies, goldfish - came to a sorry end due to inadequate care.

She told herself she'd never try to take care another plant or animal.

Yet, she saw the small pot of daffodils on the display shelf,

They were beautiful; were they trying to ask her to bring it back home?

Or did they mean they are beautiful just the way they are?

She wanted to buy them so bad.

"Maybe this would be different," she thought to herself,

Just like what she always think previously.

The daffodils looked perfect in her room - for one day.

They started to wither after that.

She tried means and ways to revive them, but to no avail.

Maybe they would have been happier if they were back on the display shelf.

But it was too late.
